Artist's Reception for Steven Saylor's Western-Inspired Artwork
KNVC's Rampway Gallery is celebrating Nevada history with the artwork of Steven Saylor. For more than five decades, Steven Saylor has dedicated his life to the art of painting, storytelling, and sharing the beauty and heritage of the American West.
Join us Thursday, September 24, 4:30 - 6:30 pm for an artist's reception as we showcase Steven's distinctive technique as an artist inspired by the American West.
Since the 1970s, Steven has developed a signature glazed watercolor technique. Working on a white panel, he builds his paintings through hundreds and of transparent layers of watercolor, applying varnish between each stage. Light passes through these layers and reflects from the white surface beneath -- creating extraordinary depth, luminosity and realism. Each original painting may take months of patient, meticulous work.
From history events and western legends to wildlife, portraits, and breathtaking landscapes, Steven's work celebrates the people, places, and spirit of the west. His original paintings and limited-edition prints are collected throughout the United States and have supported museums, historic preservation projects, charitable organizations, and community causes.

Yonder Radio - Power Dynamics: The Rural Data Center Boom airs September 18 on Carson Rural Communities
Different kinds of power - from literal computing power to political and economic power -- are shaping data center development in rural Nevada and the nation. That puts rural communities at the forefront of a nationwide scramble to build the physical infrastructure powering AI. Still, as the US economy embraces AI, rural America has yet to feel the technology's economic windfall. Instead many communities are grappling with competing visions for the future of their land, water, and energy resources, as data centers crop up to supply growing AI demand.

Beer Jimmy’s Pop Hits Airs Tuesday
KNVC announces a change in disc jockeys for ourTuesday afternoon (1-4 PM) Pop Hits programming. Our long time Tuesday DJ, Ron Savino, has retired and become a DJ Emeritus at KNVC Carson City Community Radio. He was recently honored for his many years of engineering the Tuesday Pop Hits slot at a KNVC staff gathering. Ron has handed the Tuesday afternoon reins to KNVC's next Top Pop Hits impresario, Beer Jimmy.
Beer Jimmy is not only a beer aficionado with an Instagram following to prove it, he is an expert on the Top Forty music of the modern age and will cover the period of the Beatles through 1990. From the revolutionary folk and psychedelic counterculture of the 1960s to the gritty stadium rock and harmonic grooves of the 1970s, and straight into the synthesizer-driven pop, hair metal, and new wave explosions of the 1980s, these three decades completely transformed the cultural landscape. It was an era where the rules of songwriting were rewritten every few years, giving us a massive, diverse sonic palette that still defines what we love to hear on the radio today. Beer Jimmy will take you on that journey every Tuesday afternoon.

CERT Training returns to Carson in September
The Carson City Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will offer a free Basic Training Academy this September and is accepting applications from people interested in volunteering. CERT trains local volunteers who help prepare our communities for critical events and support first responders in the event of a real-world incident. The Basic-Training Acadmey includes training in disaster preparedness, fire safety and utility contrl, disaster medical operations, disaster psychology, light search and rescues, and terrorism. You do not have to live in Carson City to participate and no special skills or prior training is needed. More information and the application is available at CERT | Carson City.

Attach your music files in mp3 or flac format. Let us know if the songs are originals or covers. If you're submitting music from a band, include names of the band members and their roles in the band. And if you have websites that provide information about your music, include links for those as well. Note that there is a 20MB maximum limit on email size.
Original Music: If you are submitting original music, include the lyrics and information about who wrote what.Covers: If you are submitting a cover song, include proof of your mechanical license for that song.
All songs must adhere to FCC guidelines for content and should be mixed and mastered well with no clipping. A loudness level of -19 LUFS is preferred.
By submitting your music, you give KNVC permission to freely play it by our show hosts and in our random mix.
KNVC Community Radio broadcasts at 95.1 FM in Carson City, Nevada and online at knvc.org. As an independent, non-commercial community radio station staffed entirely by volunteers, we rely on financial contributions from our listeners and local donors. A community radio station is a reflection of the community it serves: it's a hub for the civil exchange of ideas important to all residents.
